From the President

I truly don’t have the words to express how supported and loved I feel by you! WEC is an exceptional group of women. You will be in my heart forever! I’m doing great… healing from the surgery and tackling chemo one treatment at a time. I am looking forward to the FUNraiser and intend to be at the May luncheon, as well. It will be wonderful to see everyone again!

From the Board

Vivien and I and the other Board members are filling in while Ronnie is recuperating from surgery and her first chemo treatment.

Clare Vickery showcased her new business venture: Grace Café and Galleries. She describes it as “Where the best of old Florida meets what’s new in food and art”. If you have time, be sure to drop in. It’s located at 49 N. Federal Highway in Dania.

April was full of WEC things to do. Lunch, book club, Cannon Circle, FUNraiser. One thing you must admit, this club is never boring! We also have four new members who will have an opportunity to introduce themselves at the next luncheon.

We elected our 2006-07 Board at the April luncheon. Changes to the Bylaws and next year’s budget are posted in this newsletter and will be voted on in June.

Please plan on attending our May luncheon. We have a dynamic speaker lined up and will also have several girls from PACE joining us.

Thanks and have a great May!
Dee Moustakas

Ginny Forster writes:
I am honored to say I was just re-elected as 2006-07 President of the Stewardess Alumnae Association (SAA), which is an organization of 80+ current and former flight attendants, based here in South Florida. Through primarily a social group, our civic-minded side also supports worthwhile charitable and community efforts. In the past two years the club has sent out 200 shoeboxes of goodies to troops overseas, and annually supports the Board Humane Society - the area's only a no-kill facility - with financial and material contributions.

As a belated 15th Anniversary celebration, my husband and I are also planning to "escape reality" for the second half of MAY with a visit to San Francisco, followed by a cruise from San Francisco to and through the Hawaiian Islands, ending with 5 days in Maui where - surprise! - Geri Trodick will be enjoying the last two days of her Maui vacation. Plans have already been made to rendezvous! This is WC networking at it's best - aloha-style.

Shana Munden writes:

Hi..I just got back from Niagra in Canada...I'm queen of our group and we entertained for a 1000 red hatters,..we danced....had a great time.

Lynda Amorello writes:
My husband and I had a truly joyous occassion when our son Adam Yazejian was married to Kari Baker at the Riverside Hotel Feb 24th. Lots of family and friends shared the date with us here in FTL.

Most of us have known “Dr.Donna” as a dynamic speaker, trainer and coach, though her firm Development Associates International . We’ve watched as she began to produce theatrical and other cultural and educational events and programs .We applauded as her inspiring African American Heroes play was spotlighted in the Miami Herald and toured to NYC, Boston and Atlanta, as well as dozens of venues in South Florida. She is delighted to announce that the creative “bug “ has called and that she has now opened a whole new division of her firm called World Arts . www.WorldArtsNow.com

World Arts provides authentic entertainment from all world cultures, for all types of parties and events. Whether you are planning a cool poolside Caribbean themed event and need a real reggae or calypso band with steel pan players or an elegant affair with a cocktail hour highlighted by a lively flautist or a Latin jazz trio - or whether you desire belly dancers, or salsa dancers, African drummers or even an entire orchestra with superb jazz singers for a wedding, call “Dr.Donna” at World Arts-she will find you the best! She has already booked gigs at Parrot Jungle Island, the Weston Diplomat, the Broward Convention Center, DeVry University and more.

She will still be available on a limited basis for coaching or training, but as she has advised so many of her clients- “we all need to keep evolving and growing and not get stale -and do what makes our hearts sing! “ We wish her all best as she embarks on this new adventure-many of us will have experienced the fabulous Flamenco guitarist and dancer that she provided, at cost, for our Flamenco funraiser! Cannon Circle Recap

March
Bobbie Stanley hosted our March Cannon Circle in her gorgeous, new home in Lighthouse Point. (It even has an elevator!) You could roller skate from one end to the other and round and round the island in the magnificent kitchen. Bobbies’ mom helped with the yummy appetizers and dinner. Several of us volunteered to be adopted!

Thanks Bobbie for a fun evening.

April
