The blog tackles everyday workplace topics in the casual, conversational manner you would expect at your favorite neighborhood restaurant or bar. After a long day at the office, it’s the friendly face who’s there when you need them.

When she’s not bartending, Sharlyn is president of Internal Talent Management (ITM) Group which specializes in employee training and human resources consulting. Her off-hours are spent searching for the best hamburger on the planet, fabulous wine that cost less than $10/bottle and iPhone apps.
So pull up a stool, order your favorite beverage, and join the conversation…the bar is always open.

FROM THE PRESIDENT
Amazing! That’s how our March membership meeting was…from the decorations to the members speaking from the heart to the large number of guests we had to our own members for inviting so many quality women. So many members to thank: Jan Bullard for organizing the luncheon, the greeters committee, Suzie King for keeping track of all the rsvp’s, Martha Lord and Ruden McClosky for being our av sponsor, Carol Metevier and Rose White for their testimonials and the decorations committee. Michelle Oka Doner really brought her art to life…I wish we had had more time to hear her speak!
We had some great events this month, including the March Cannon Circle hosted by Martha Lord and Maggie Smith at the Ft. Lauderdale Yacht Club, and Salsa dancing on April 15th. Check out pictures from these events within the newsletter. Our April Cannon Circle will be hosted by Melissa Rapkin and Sande Kaskel and is on April 28th. We look forward to seeing you there!

Book Club
On Monday, April 19th, Bookies came together to read “Daring Chloe” by Laura Jensen Walker. The group met at Joni Rosenthal’s home, and of course, knowing Joni, pictures and details will follow in our next newsletter. Stay tuned!
We welcome all members to join us for our next Book Club meeting scheduled for 6:30pm, Monday, June 14th, as we will be reading “The Help” by Kathryn Stockett. The group will meet at Rose White’s home. Those attending are asked to bring a dish to share and she will provide beverages. If you are coming, please RSVP to Rose White at loveyouu@aol.com.
More about “The Help” from Publisher’s Weekly:
“What perfect timing for this optimistic, uplifting debut novel (and maiden publication of Amy Einhorn’s new imprint) set during the nascent civil rights movement in Jackson, Miss., where black women were trusted to raise white children but not to polish the household silver. Eugenia Skeeter Phelan is just home from college in 1962, and, anxious to become a writer, is advised to hone her chops by writing about what disturbs you. The budding social activist begins to collect the stories of the black women on whom the country club sets relies and mistrusts enlisting the help of Aibileen, a maid who’s raised 17 children, and Aibileen’s best friend Minny, who’s found herself unemployed more than a few times after mouthing off to her white employers. The book Skeeter puts together based on their stories is scathing and shocking, bringing pride and hope to the black community, while giving Skeeter the courage to break down her personal boundaries and pursue her dreams. Assured and layered, full of heart and history, this one has bestseller written all over it.”
All WEC members are invited to become “Bookies”, where women meet in each other’s homes once a month to share in the love of books. Please contact Rose White at loveyouu@aol.com for more information about WEC’s monthly book club meetings.
Cannon Circle
Along with the monthly luncheons, members also get together in a more informal atmosphere during the year. These evening socials are called “Cannon Circles” and are hosted at members’ homes or businesses. The Cannon Circle is named for Past President Shirley Cannon who was known for her gracious and uplifting spirit.
The next Cannon Circle will be held on April 28th and will be co-hosted by Melissa Rapkin and Sande Kaskel. Contact Melissa Rapkin at mrapkin@horizonbay.com for more details.
The last Cannon Circle was held at the Fort Lauderdale Yacht Club, and was co-hosted by Martha Lord and Maggie Smith.
For those of you not able to attend, here are some pictures showing the terrific time that you missed!
GEMS: “Greet, Eat, Meet”
Formed in November 2002, members of WEC who choose to get together for an informal meeting are selected at random in small groups to greet, eat and meet. A Lead person is selected to set a time and place for breakfast, lunch, dinner or whatever. This is a great opportunity to get to know each other on a more personal level. If you would like to be a host, please contact Liz Mendel, GEM Coordinator at dolphintravelinc@aol.com or at her office, Dolphin Travel Inc., 954-351-2002.
This is a great opportunity to get to know each other on a more personal level.
WEC Table and Reservation Policies
We have several club policies which we need to remind everyone:
Regarding items on the tables at the luncheons, the only things permitted are: official club business such as flyers about social events, items from the speaker, and items from the member doing the business showcase. Thank you for your cooperation.
RSVP to luncheons…Any member who fails to cancel a luncheon reservation within 48 hours or who fails to attend a reserved luncheon, will be billed at the current rate by VP of Finance. Each member will be entitled to one courtesy “no-show” per club year.

Hi Family:
Next year, I will be celebrating a quarter of a century as a member of WEC. Each year, and each luncheon, I realize the wonderment of the club because of women like YOU!
Thank you for the joyous opportunity of being your CLUB photographer. It is my dance of life.
With all my love,
JONI
Thank you for all you do Joni.
Happy 25th Anniversary to you, Joni! And I second, Jenny in saying thank you for all you do for WEC!
CONGRATS Joni! I am soo glad to be involved with you and all in the WEC!!!
I have been searching for a time for just a reasonable study dealing with this kind of subject matter . Checking out in Aol I now uncovered this website. Reading this post I’m just happy to enunciate that I’ve got a great impression I discovered precisely what I was looking for. For certain i will be sure to don’t forget this blog and go here on a constant basis.

Woah! I’m really digging the template/theme of this blog. It’s simple, yet effective. A lot of times it’s very hard to get that “perfect balance” between superb usability and appearance. I must say that you’ve done a awesome job with this. In addition, the blog loads extremely quick for me on Firefox. Outstanding Blog!
What a wonderful piece of text! I have no clue how you came up with this report..it’d take me weeks. Well worth it though, I’d assume. Have you considered selling advertising space on your blog?
Thank you so much for these words. “May the Lord meet you in your workplace and fill you with joy over your worth to Him.” I am going to write those words down and repeat as needed. I so need the Lord to meet me in my workplace right now but I hadn’t thought to ask it in quite that way. Thank you!
Oh, superb write-up! I have no clue how you came up with this report..it’d take me days. Well worth it though, I’d suspect. Have you considered selling ads on your blog?
