MESSAGE FROM INCOMING PRESIDENT

_MG_3350 web

Hi to all of our Wonderful WEC Women!

September is always the month of new beginnings. The kids are back to school and the holiday season is around the corner. For our group, it marks the beginning of our 35th year as an organization. Although we no longer can boast the membership of any of our founding members, several of our present group have been in the group for 20 years or more. To mark this very special anniversary year, each month we will take a look back and learn more about these dynamic women that laid the groundwork for our group today.

Our year has already started with two well attended events. VP of Events, Laurina Anderson helped facilitate an open women’s networking event at Shooters on August 18th. Women from NAWBO and WIN were also in attendance and enjoyed an evening of open networking. For those of you who were lucky enough to attend on the 25th, Sharyn Brunk had an absolutely delightful Cannon Circle at her condo on the Las Olas riverfront. It was a very special evening with beautiful food, wine and the company of our fellow members.

Coming up on September 12th our book club will be at Deb McLaughlin’s in Hollywood. There is a choice of two books this month, Evolution of Bruno Littlemore and Left Neglected. If you are planning on attending please RSVP by September 7th. Her contact information is: debramcblack@aol.com or phone: 954-478-1091.

Our lunch this month is on Tuesday, September 20th with networking beginning at 11:30am. We have Robin Haines Merrill as our guest speaker. She operates the Upper Room Gallery and the Mission Gifts Fair Trade store. Her presentation will be "Stories of Hope" how one person can make a difference in the lives of hundreds. We will also have the pleasure of learning more about Laurina Anderson’s work as a Counselor and Life Coach during our Business Showcase.

Until then, I wish each and every one our ladies a wonderful start to September and much success in all the good work that we do.
Karen

GEMS: “GREET, EAT, MEET”

image

Formed in November 2002, members of WEC who choose to get together for an informal meeting are selected at random in small groups to greet, eat and meet. A Lead person is selected to set a time and place for breakfast, lunch, dinner or whatever. This is a great opportunity to get to know each other on a more personal level. If you would like to be a part of GEMs, please contact Liz Mendel, GEM Coordinator at dolphintravelinc@aol.com or at her office, Dolphin Travel Inc., 954-351-2002.

This is a great opportunity to get to know each other on a more personal level.
