Click the arrow in this section to see the “Salsa Lesson”.  Enter attendee name and click “Add to Cart”. This will take you to the Pay Pal website, where you can pay online for the class. Dr. Karen Rowe, treasurer, will email Susan when you rsvp/pay via Pay Pal, so we keep a headcount, as space is limited. We have to prepay for the class, so need to collect in advance. As many of you know, I am now the Senior Art Designer at Florida Atlantic University Libraries. And as I say at all the luncheons I attend… FAU Libraries’ is where we are re-inventing the library experience! And boy do I mean it! From March 6 through 11, FAU Libraries at the Boca Raton campus will host Kultur Festival 2010. Kultur Fest 2010 is the only festival of its kind in South Florida. This second annual celebration of Jewish culture includes six days of concerts, presentations, lectures, song, dance, film and book arts. Festival events will showcase holdings in Florida Atlantic University Libraries’ Special Collections & Archives through the talents of guest artists, distinguished scholars and critically acclaimed musicians, including the Klezmer Company Orchestra (KCO), the library’s professional ensemble-in-residence. Conductor and Festival Director Aaron Kula and KCO perform the festival’s main event JudeoJazzistico in concert for the first time with the KlezKatz vocal trio. KCO performs a unique style of “ethnic orchestral jazz.” I describe it as a…. Klezmer-Kool-Hot-Jazz-Orchestra fusion style of music that I absolutely love, and you must experience! There is even an event for children called Klez4Kids where a narrator will read from the from a children’s book while members of the KCO perform. My son Thor will be there, dancing up a storm!

The Cooperative Feeding Program is an organization dedicated to feeding Broward’s hungry, and is dear to Jan Bullard’s and WEC’s hearts.

Sunday, February 28 is a big day for the Cooperative Feeding Program as two (2) very special events are being held that day:

At 8AM, the Galt Ocean Mile 5K Hunger Awareness Walk/Run and at 4PM, Andy’s 6 annual Pasta Dinner.

I just want to let the WEC Ladies know that the Red Cross of Broward is having a Fundraiser on the evening of Feb 26th.  It is Cocktails and a Fashion Show featuring a fabulous Couture Designer, Victoria Lopez Castro, whom I have known for a good twelve or so years.  It will be held at the new Westin Beach Resort on A1A in Fort Lauderdale. As you know, the Red Cross has been contributing significantly to the rescue effort for Haiti.  The hope is that this evening will go along way toward replenishing their reserves. On Friday, January 22nd, I had knee surgery on my right knee at Imperial Point Hospital .  I have a torn cartilage that has to be repaired through Arthroscopic surgery. Everything went well, but I will be on crutches for two weeks.  Yikes!
