QUOTE OF THE MONTH
“I have found the paradox, that if you love until it hurts, there can be no more hurt, only more love.” ~Mother Teresa
FROM THE PRESIDENT
February is a month when our thoughts turn to love. This can mean a lot of things, but I have witnessed the love and caring that goes on in our own Club. I am so very proud of you all. Our Book Club started a prayer group for those of you that would like to send in a request and get some extra help. Please let Rose White or myself know if you would like to add your name. We have also sent cards and emails to many of our members that have been ill or have needed extra help.
Our last Cannon Circle at Carroll’s Jewelers sponsored by Barbara and Bob Moorman was a huge success. They were so very gracious to all of us. We had a great turnout and it is quite obvious that our ladies really like one another and are eager to learn more about each other. For that reason, we are going to give you more opportunities to take advantage of events that, ordinarily, you might not be able to attend. On February 12th, we had an amazing time at the Quarterly Saturday Gems Lunch at the Duncan Center in Del Ray Beach, thanks to Deb McLaughlin. See the pictures below of our wonderful day together at this lovely retreat center. This was in addition to our regularly scheduled Gem Lunches.

Our Jazz Concert was on February 9, and was such a totally different and exciting experience! Thank you to all of our ladies who have been working so hard to provide us with such a special evening!
This last month we were joined by members of the Boca WEC. They were very impressed by you. In fact, they want to copy many of things that we do. I have extended an invitation to partner with that group and we will be working on ideas as to how to take advantage of jointly-ventured activities. Please forward any ideas or suggestions you might have to me.
At today’s luncheon, we will be honoring our Past Presidents. This will be a special event to honor the ladies that have spent countless hours and have lead our organization to where we are today. Their knowledge and inspiration is priceless.
At every meeting I have tried to honor each one of you that have reached great heights in your own development and continued success. You are an amazing group of ladies! I wish all of you, not only Valentine’s Day, but a whole year filled with love and best wishes.
Warmest Regards,
Jan Bullard
WEC President

BOOK CLUB
All WEC members are invited to become “Bookies”, where women meet in each other’s homes once a month to share in the love of books.
Mark your calendars: February 21, 2011 at 6:30pm.
Where: Judith Kolva’s home. Address to follow.
Book: Our next read is The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo by Stieg Larsson. Because this book is part of a trilogy we are going to read all three books, every other month.
The objective of our Book Club is our love for reading but as a result of our "common" love to read, we have developed a beautiful bond of friendship among the group. We discuss personal and business concerns without being "judge" and assist each through ups and downs of our daily lives. A few of the ladies were concerned about the fact that if they host they have to cook elaborate meals…this is NOT about cooking, this is about reading and developing lasting and meaning friendships.
If anyone has any questions they can contact Rose at: Rosewhite@allstate.com
CANNON CIRCLE
Along with the monthly luncheons, members also get together in a more informal atmosphere during the year. These evening socials are called “Cannon Circles” and are hosted at members’ homes or businesses. The Cannon Circle is named for Past President Shirley Cannon who was known for her gracious and uplifting spirit.
Check out the pictures from our last Cannon Circle at Carroll’s Jewelers! Thank you to Barbara Moorman for such a successful event!

Formed in November 2002, members of WEC who choose to get together for an informal meeting are selected at random in small groups to greet, eat and meet. A Lead person is selected to set a time and place for breakfast, lunch, dinner or whatever. This is a great opportunity to get to know each other on a more personal level. If you would like to be a part of GEMs, please contact Liz Mendel, GEM Coordinator at dolphintravelinc@aol.com or at her office, Dolphin Travel Inc., 954-351-2002.
