Speaker : Ann Morrissey,  Style Consultant

Anne Morrissey is an expert on personal image and style and how to create it. As the owner of her own Style Consulting Firm, she works with discerning South Florida business women to master the art of dressing well for their lifestyle.

As a fashion stylist, she transforms her clients’ image by working with them one on one showing them how to make the most of what they’ve got, and providing expert guidance on how to pull it all together.

She speaks regularly to women’s groups about Using the Power of Image and Style to Make More Money. Her mission is to inspire her audiences to step out of their fashion comfort zones and create a memorable personal image that reflects their business and radiates credibility and confidence.

Anne is a graduate of University of San Francisco in Communications and Broadcasting, having also studied at Howard University in Washington, DC. Her message is: When you look pulled together, people assume you’ve got it together !

MESSAGE FROM OUR PRESIDENT

Happy Cinco de Mayo and May Day to All of My WEC Sisters!

What an amazing year this has been for our group. Our membership has solidified and continues to grow. Along with attracting highly qualified new members, we are attracting some extended media attention through Jan Bullard’s 1000+ Club involvement. Our events, Cannon Circles and Book Club are thriving and there is one and only one reason that we keep moving in an upward direction… it’s all because of you! You and your sisters share a generosity of spirit, goodwill and reach out to one another through the good and the bad.

Laurina’s retreat this year is one of those wonderful occasions that will draw us ever closer. The retreat will be on Saturday, June 16th at Carol Metevier’s community room. This is an outstanding way to close our year and I hope all of you can attend. This year’s theme is: “Communication From The Heart”. Please mark your calendars now… You do not want to miss it!

I also have the pleasure of announcing that our membership has approved the 2012 – 2013 Board so look forward to see some new faces opening the doors into the future. We have 3 new leaders that will be serving next term. They are Trina London who will be VP of Events, Kimball Stadler – VP of Membership and Marla Nassau – VP of Corporate Records. I say, look out ladies… You ain’t seen nothing yet. We have so much to look forward to next year.

Our membership also approved the new board position, VP of Communication. This is going to be an amazing opportunity for our group to stay on top of all the technology and communication vehicles we have. Let’s support Laurina in developing the best candidate for this new chair.

Again, I wish to thank all of you for what has been a landmark year in my life. Your friendship and support have made my life so beautiful. Thank each and every one of you…

Laurina Anderson Wants to Share Her Positive Energy

Hello Sistahs!
Well the end of March was the beginning of a huge upswing of activities for me.  Not only did it bring me a birthday, but it also became a milestone in my career path.  I am now an official “Published Author.”  The book “Allow Your Spirit to Soar” was launched at the Vision Quest Conference held in West Palm Beach Hilton where over 150 participants had the opportunity to hear from 6 different Keynote Speakers of which I was one, on how to manifest their Vision’s into reality.

Hi Ladies,

We have a lot of very kewl technology at our fingertips. Thanks to my fellow Technology Committee Members Chris Guld and Myriam Cohen for your volunteer hours. We do still need others to get involved. Contact Chris Guld if you are interested in joining in our geek loving fun.

1. We have a private Linked In Page for WEC members.
2.  We have a private WEC Website.
3. We have an easy email address for member news, events and invites.
4. We have a public WEC Facebook page.

1) If you have not joined Linked In yet, it is easy and free. www.linkedin.com. Create a basic profile. Once you are set up with your profile, click the Groups link at the top of the page. On that screen, you will see the Search Box at top right. Type in Womens Executive Club of Fort Lauderdale. Request to join. I am the administrator of the page & will accept you as a member.

2) Our Private Website is found easily from accessing our WEC website. We have Forums in the private website for chatting amongst ourselves & a lot of other helpful information. (The pasted webpage shot is below for easy reference). Hover your mouse over Members & the Private Website shows up. Chris Guld sent us a message on March 21st. I pasted the body of the message for convenience.

If you need this message sent to you for updating your details, please let me know & I will be happy to forward to you, so we maintain privacy for our membership), As we transition to a new private website for member contact information, we want to be sure we have the most current data for our members. The first time you log in, you will need to create a password, then confirm the email you receive. This is a brand new website – we don’t give you a password like the old one – you create your own. More instructions to come about all the wonderful things we can do with this new, private, WEC members website, but first lets get everyone updated. You can add your own photo also – in the Photo field, you’ll see a button to ‘Choose File’ where you can upload a picture from your computer.

3) If you have news you wish posted during the month, want something submitted to the newsletter or have an event you want members to attend, please email news@wecftl.com. I am posting in real time, asap. I can also send out invites for your function to all active members. It will work in the same fashion as the luncheons, Book Club, Cannon Circle with auto email rsvp invites that you are already receiving. Your email or your designated person will be set as the email recipient for your event. Contact me for more info. if you are interested and have questions. By sending your requests in as you have them, rather than waiting for Myriam to ask for submissions, you are making our volunteer hours much more effective.

4) If you are on our WEC website, hover your mouse over the “About WEC”. From there, you will see the WEC FB page. Click that & you will be taken to our page. You will need to login to Facebook to post anything. Chris Guld teaches classes on Facebook. Contact Chris if you wish instruction.

Hello Sistahs!

Well the end of March was the beginning of a huge upswing of activities for me.  Not only did it bring me a birthday, but it also became a milestone in my career path.  I am now an official “Published Author.”  The book “Allow Your Spirit to Soar” was launched at the Vision Quest Conference held in West Palm Beach Hilton where over 150 participants had the opportunity to hear from 6 different Keynote Speakers of which I was one, on how to manifest their Vision’s into reality. My chapter title is “Fully Charged Now” where I share the knowledge of energy fields of attraction, how to quiet the mind, feelings vs. emotions, you are not your thoughts, just to name a few.  It’s a great tool to add to your arsenal of self-development and growth.  Please just email or call if you’d like to purchase a book as I do still have some available. 

Then on April 4^th the 1000+ Club for Cancer had it annual “Women of the Year” Luncheon in which our own Jan Bullard was honored.  What an incredible day it was as I have never seen Jan look so stunning.  What an incredible honor and joy to hear our Women’s Executive Club, Jan Bullard, being spoken over the microphone of over 860 guests.  I was never so proud that day as I knew WEC was being highlighted in a way that had never happened before.  I am still receiving calls about what WEC and how they can participate in this organization.  And a special thank you to all who participated to make this event so very special.  I honor you all.

And the ball is still rolling, or should I say the dance she is a dancing…  On April 14^th I had the honor of being a dancer for The Pantry of Broward’s Dancing with the Stars fundraiser held at the Hard Rock Casino.  There were 5 couples that competed in votes/dollars and their dancing skills.  What an amazing night full of glitz and glitter.  There were over 300 people who attended and each one of the contestants where stunning and brilliant in terms of their creativity and style.  What a privilege it was to be a part of the festivities and know that I was making a difference in the lives of so many.  Last year’s event raised $27,000 and this year’s event, ta da, raised over $88,000…YAHOO!!!

Thank you to all that voted for me with their dollars on line and at the event!  I was so blessed by your support. 

Well, one more thing…Oh My Lord, I was nominated by the Boys and Girls Club as one of their 100 Outstanding Women of the Year.  Now I’m really blown away.  I couldn’t believe it when asked.  So, on May 16^th, Wednesday evening at the Signature Grand, I, along with 100 other Women will be highlighted as community leaders from Broward.  If anyone is interested in sharing that most special day with me, please call or email me as I do have a few seats still available at my table.  It would truly be an honor to have anyone of my Sistahs join me on such a special occasion. 

And that leaves me with, THE RETREAT!!!  Watch out!  We are going to have so much fun!  I’m not giving it away yet…but the theme is “Communicating from the Heart.”  And it’s going to rock!  I promise. 

Thank you again Sistahs for all of your support, encouragement, and love.  I would not have been here right now if not for you!

As many of you know for the past 10 years I have had the pleasure to participate in a cause near and dear to my heart, The American Cancer Society’s Jail and Bail Event. Fighting this terrible disease, that has touch so many families including mine with the loss of my beloved mother Evelyn to lung cancer recently, as well as a few close friends is extremely worthwhile. Together we CAN defeat cancer!!!

I’ve just been notified that I have to turn myself in to the authorities on Tuesday, June 26th. Either that or they’ll come and take me away in handcuffs (now that’s an image). The only way that I can be released is by raising $5,000 for the American Cancer Society. Won’t you please help bail me out?
