Now is the time to sign up!!!!!

As of today, 11/12, we have 32 people signed up that have paid & 8 people w/ monies coming to Karen’s office or meeting, for a total of 40. We have room for 49. After that we will need 55 minimum for the larger boat.

It is appreciated that ladies are contacting me, Susan to let me know you are coming, but I cannot count you until you have paid, We have appx. 100 members and growing. I cannot keep track of everyone that has not paid. Karen Rowe is sending me PayPal receipts and emails when she receives a payment.

  • 6-8 pm. Bahia Mar Marina. The boat leaves promptly @ 6pm. :)
  • $35 dollars per person.
  • Attendees asked to bring a dish, if possible. We have desserts covered. Check w/ Susan if you plan to bring something, so we have all food groups covered. :)
  • Beer, wine and dry snacks provided.
  • Parking available at the marina. Fee required for parking. A map will be emailed to those in attendance.
  • Member and Guest Event.
  • Events Team Host Susan Kingsley, susan@susankingsley.biz , 954-661-2305.
  • Paypal set up in the reservations page of the new WEC website, or payment to Karen Rowe or Susan Kingsley.

We had a blast last year. At the September meeting, we had a possible 45 people sign up with guests. If we go over 49 in attendance, we can use the larger boat with capacity of 75, but would want at least 55 -60 people for covering our cost. Sign up is required and payment must be received by November 18th meeting. (To pay by Paypal; on the Reservations page of the new WEC website, scroll down on the page. There is a separate area in the reservations page for events. Click the green arrow to choose the event you wish to attend).  Ahoy Mates :)

February Cooking Class

Events team 1

The Events team members Susan, Carol Metevier, Lynda Amorello, Connie Chaney and Marsha Broadwell met @ Sea Watch to discuss and plan for the upcoming February Cooking Class. We discussed 3 possible choices and are progressing towards making a decision. Lynda has been hard at work bringing all of the updates to our team. Thanks Lynda! We really appreciate you. It was great fun getting together. Watch for updates…..It is going to be a yummy unforgetable experience. :)

Jan Bullard Asks You To Participate

This is our opportunity to make a difference.  Every year in November, we have the opportunity to be thankful and to help someone else.  The Cooperative Feeding Program of Broward just had their fall Gala and this was the kick-off of their Holiday Food Drive.  At our next meeting on November l8, we have the opportunity to bring food to the Tower Club to be donated to CFP.  We will also be passing the basket for those that would rather donate money.  Remember, this is optional, but your help is so badly needed.logo_homegraphic_home

The Cooperative Feeding Program stood at the front of the firing line as hunger in America hit record levels not seen in 50 years.  Countless Broward citizens lost their jobs and turned to CFP for food, a place to get their mail or unemployment checks, clothing, counseling, and a dozen other forms of assistance.  CFP distributed l.4 million meals, approximately 100,000 more than the prior year.

CFP, thanks to a grant, was able to purchase and distribute 1,400 healthy snack packs to low-income Broward families.  They then partnered with Target to purchase the food needed to fill the backpacks.  Thanks to another grant, they were able to provide 1500 children with uniforms, backpacks, and school supplies.

Little known facts:  CFP distributes 100 pounds of clothing a day, provides more than 300 loaves of bread each day, and provides 300 showers each week.  They also give 25 haircuts each day.

On November 9 we will be taking a tour of CFP.  If you are not on the list, or if you would like more information, please call Jan Bullard at 954-448-4822.
