Stranahan Event was a hoot!!

We had 32 attendees. Unfortunately a few of the ladies were unable to make it. The Las Olas Art Festival detour for arrival added some challenges, but we all enjoyed each other’s company and also celebrated Joyce Shore’s birthday. Some orbs were seen in the photos Carol Metevier took. The paranormal crew was there & one of the gals went thru the tour with us. The evening was balmy and light breezes were blowing. Marsha Broadwell, her husband Allen Robinson and I came in costume to spunk it up My husband Timothy Proksch wore his red and white Allen Edmund Spectators to match my red apparel.

The interior of the  house is beautiful. The docent was very informative. There was an air of spookiness about, with the cemetary, grave digger, grieving widow and hand held spirit wands. Marsha Broadwell’s wands kept spinning around. We all learned something & enjoyed our time. The entire evening was solely WEC attendees, due to our large turn out. Thanks everyone for helping to make this such a huge success. Thank you Carol Metevier for all of your time in making sure all of the details were put into place.

There will be a holiday tour for the December season if anyone cares to see the home lit up and decorated.  :)

Jan Bullard Asks You To Participate

This is our opportunity to make a difference.  Every year in November, we have the opportunity to be thankful and to help someone else.  The Cooperative Feeding Program of Broward just had their fall Gala and this was the kick-off of their Holiday Food Drive.  At our next meeting on November l8, we have the opportunity to bring food to the Tower Club to be donated to CFP.  We will also be passing the basket for those that would rather donate money.  Remember, this is optional, but your help is so badly needed.logo_homegraphic_home

The Cooperative Feeding Program stood at the front of the firing line as hunger in America hit record levels not seen in 50 years.  Countless Broward citizens lost their jobs and turned to CFP for food, a place to get their mail or unemployment checks, clothing, counseling, and a dozen other forms of assistance.  CFP distributed l.4 million meals, approximately 100,000 more than the prior year.

CFP, thanks to a grant, was able to purchase and distribute 1,400 healthy snack packs to low-income Broward families.  They then partnered with Target to purchase the food needed to fill the backpacks.  Thanks to another grant, they were able to provide 1500 children with uniforms, backpacks, and school supplies.

Little known facts:  CFP distributes 100 pounds of clothing a day, provides more than 300 loaves of bread each day, and provides 300 showers each week.  They also give 25 haircuts each day.

On November 9 we will be taking a tour of CFP.  If you are not on the list, or if you would like more information, please call Jan Bullard at 954-448-4822.
