PLEASE WELCOME PINA ACKERMAN

image

Pina Ackerman was born and raised in Corato, Italy. In her formative years, she attended the Art institute in Bari studying fashion construction for both men and women. She later studied women’s fashion at the prestigious Art Institute of Milan. In 1967, Pina moved with her family to the United States and after two years she opened her first retail boutiques and tailor shops in Hollywood and Fort Lauderdale.

Her current boutique is located on Las Olas Blvd. in Fort Lauderdale and carries a unique collection of women’s fashion and accessories imported from Italy. In addition to the retail store, Pina has a full service tailor shop located in an adjacent space at the same location. The tailor shop serves both men and women.

Pina is past chairman for Italy for the Fort Lauderdale Sister Cities International Program and has been a member of the Downtown Fort Lauderdale Rotary Club. She is also active in the local Italian American community.

Pina is married and lives in Plantation. Her husband, William, a former Secret Service Agent, works as a security consultant. Both of them enjoy traveling to Italy, where they have a home in Pina’s native Corato.

Stranahan Event was a hoot!!

We had 32 attendees. Unfortunately a few of the ladies were unable to make it. The Las Olas Art Festival detour for arrival added some challenges, but we all enjoyed each other’s company and also celebrated Joyce Shore’s birthday. Some orbs were seen in the photos Carol Metevier took. The paranormal crew was there & one of the gals went thru the tour with us. The evening was balmy and light breezes were blowing. Marsha Broadwell, her husband Allen Robinson and I came in costume to spunk it up My husband Timothy Proksch wore his red and white Allen Edmund Spectators to match my red apparel.

The interior of the  house is beautiful. The docent was very informative. There was an air of spookiness about, with the cemetary, grave digger, grieving widow and hand held spirit wands. Marsha Broadwell’s wands kept spinning around. We all learned something & enjoyed our time. The entire evening was solely WEC attendees, due to our large turn out. Thanks everyone for helping to make this such a huge success. Thank you Carol Metevier for all of your time in making sure all of the details were put into place.

There will be a holiday tour for the December season if anyone cares to see the home lit up and decorated.  :)
